Welcome to the GLEON Harmful Algal Bloom Working Group Resource website!

This website was created to provide a list of resources for researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Global Lake Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON). It contains information about freshwater harmful algal blooms, the cyanobacteria that create them, and the toxins they can produce, all with an emphasis on inland lakes. Descriptions of monitoring programs on  Lake Mendota are included as well as graphs of cyanobacterial concentrations in the lake. A table of monitoring programs being carried out in  the United States, and some international programs, is provided along with a table of  research being done on freshwater harmful algal blooms. There is also a list of some of the measures that Wisconsin has taken to reduce harmful algal blooms and a page of useful links.
